Fishing Pond Lesson Plan
Materials
- Markers
- Crayons
- Colored pencils
- Blue butcher paper
- Free Fish Template
- Construction paper, various colors
- Felt (optional)
- Scissors
- Glue
Instructions
- Students will cut out the shape of their fishing pond from the blue butcher paper. It should be large enough for everyone’s fish to fit in. Students can make grass, rocks, or other items out of felt or construction paper to decorate the outside of the pond. You can purchase the complete lesson plan with templates to make your own lily pads or do it yourself.
- Print out the free fish template here. The fish template can be used to design the fish first then used as an outline to make your fish shape out of construction paper or felt. Use additional pieces of construction paper, makers, crayons, and colored pencils to add details to your fish like eyes, scales, and fins.
- Once the students finish their fish and plants, they can place them inside their pond. Set up a chair and relax next to your fishing pond.
- If you want to extend the fun further, purchase the complete lesson plan for instructions for making a fishing pole and a template for the hook. You can even get extra creative by putting magnets on the hook and your fish and playing a game!
